My daughters, who are 11 and almost 13, love colored duct tape. They have gotten some for birthday gifts, at a local dollar store, and they love to use coupons to buy the "good kind" at craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michaels. There are so many fun patterns for both boys and girls. They really love the duct tape with colorful designs and patterns on them!

They love to get creative and see what they can find to make with the duct tape. And I love to see them having fun being creative and having fun together.

Some crafts they have made with their colored duct tape:

  • Bookmarks
  • Bracelets & Anklets
  • Picture Frames
  • Pencil Holders using a can
  • Wallets

These are a few of the items they recently made.

The girls had a lot of fun making the duct tape wallets. They had gotten instructions at our local craft store but you can just search online and find many video tutorials.

I also love the idea my almost 13 year old came up with a couple weeks ago. She is in 4-H this year and is showing pigs at our local fair. She has had a great time with her pigs and it has been a fun summer project.

She has to keep records of all the expenses so she had found an old file folder we had around and was using that. I came home one day and she was so excited to show me what she had done with her file folder. She has always loved to make things bright and colorful!

This is how she made her Duct Tape file folder:

  1. She cut strips of the solid color duct tape and stuck them onto the file folder horizontally.
  2. Then she cut strips of her patterned duct tape and placed them around the edges of the folder. She choose to do a different color/design on each side of the folder.
  3. On the front of the folder she made a cute label. She cut a strip of the zebra print duct tape and put that in the middle of the folder. Next she cut a piece of the solid color duct tape and trimmed it so it was a little narrower than the zebra print piece and put that on top. She used a permanent marker to make her title – Pig Notebook…Oink, Oink, Oink. regular smile Fun Duct Tape Craft Ideas for Kids

I think I need to have her make me one for my business files!

Do your kids always want new folders for school? Have them reuse their old ones this year and make their own designs on them with duct tape. It will keep them busy for a while too!

Easy Inspirational Magnet Craft for Kids

Magnets Easy Inspirational Magnet Craft for Kids

This year  I helped with the crafts for our GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) group at church. I love doing crafts so I really enjoyed teaching the girls. We made these magnets and I wish I would have taken a picture because they all came up with unique designs.

This is an easy craft for kids of any age. It would be a fun and inexpensive craft to do for a girl's birthday party too. I wanted to make inspirational magnets for our GEMS group craft to tie it into our theme this year so I printed off words on the computer. You can have fun with this and use cool fonts. You can also find stickers that have words or you could use sticker letters and have them do their initial or name (if it is short). You don't have to use words either, you can simply use designs off the scrapbook paper.

My kids are on Spring Break this week and we decided to make some magnets for something fun to do.

Supplies Needed:

  • Scissors
  • Scrapbook paper or old cards (smaller designs work better)
  • Clear Gel Glue
  • Magnet disks (you can get these at a Michael's or Hobby Lobby store)
  • Clear Acrylic stones (at Michael's or Hobby Lobby found in the section by marbles and stones that you would put in a clear glass vase)

Choose a stone – they seem to have a flat side and a more rounded side. You will be gluing your paper to the flat side. Simply hold your stone over the design on the paper that you want on your magnet and carefully cut around it. You may need to help younger kids with this part but they don't have to be perfect and you can trim it off once it is dry.

If you are using a word or sticker, glue it to your cut out piece of paper. Next you will put some of the clear gel glue on the flat side of your stone and then stick your cut out piece of paper to the stone (right side up). You do need to let it dry for several hours before putting the magnet on the back. Some magnets are adhesive backed and some need to be glued on. Let dry overnight before using it.

The finished product!

You can hang them on your refrigerator or locker. They also make cute homemade gifts for kids to give to a friend, teacher or Grandma!

Doing crafts with your children is a great way to spend quality time together and make lasting memories!
